Dayara Bugyal Trek
The Dayara Bugyal Trek is one of the most mesmerizing and picturesque treks in all of India, situated in the Uttarkashi region of Uttarakhand, and delights trekkers with its lushmeadows, forests and snow covered peaks. Referred to as the “high-altitude meadow trek,” the trek offers mesmerizing views of countless surrounding Himalayan peaks in addition to beautiful alpine meadows (bugyals), constructions of oak and rhododendron forests and high mountain passes. Dayara Bugyal or “high altitude meadow” is famous for its large expanse of lush greenery, beautiful vistas and yet another opportunity to see the majesty of the great Himalayan range. This trek, is ideal for everyone, whether a beginner or experienced trekker, who wants a perfect mix of adventure, natural beauty, and serenity.
Itinerary
- Distance: 185 km
- Time: Approx. 7-8 hours
- Highlights: The trek starting point is in Raithal, which you can reach by taking a road trip from Dehradun. The drive is through curved roads along gorgeous vistas of the Bhagirathi River, verdant valleys, and sleepy villages in the mountains. Helped, ofcourse, by the peaceful rural charms of Uttarakhand along the way. Upon arrival at Raithal, you will be treated to a village enshrined in the beautiful mountains along with some of the finest people around. This is the ideal place to experience the raw, rural life of the region up close. So in the evening, return to a homestay or guesthouse and relish what will be an exciting trek ahead.

- Highlights: Day 2: Trek from Raithal to Gui Campsite: The Adventure Begins The trek begins with a gradual ascent through scenic oak and rhododendron forests, making novice hikers welcome. As you get to enjoy a variety of flora and fauna along the way, including Himalayan butterflies, colorful wildflowers, and exotic birds. As you ascend the terrain, the scenery changes, and you begin to catch a glimpse of themighty Himalayan mountain ranges in the distance. Once you arrive at Gui, the campsite overlooks the surrounding peaks, while the entire area is a quiet bastion for nature lovers. - Altitude: Gui (9,800 ft) to Dayara Top (11,800 ft)
- Highlights: Day 3– An early start is critical on Day 3 if you wish to watch a fascinating sunrise and admire the stunning view of the snow-covered Himalayan Peaks. Golden colors over the snow soaring mountains look amazing at sun rise. The hike for the day would take you through expansive alpine meadows of DayaraBugyal, delightful high-altitude meadow — one of the purest and most picturesque locales in India. In summer and early autumn, the meadow is covered in different wildflowers, which look surreal against the backdrop of towering snow-clad peaks. The views from Dayara top are absolutely mind blowing. During this trek, you willget to see some peaks like Bandarpoonch, Kala Nag, and Srikanth, which are also a part of impressive and beautiful Himalayan ranges. After enjoying the views in the peaceful environment, you’ll descend again to Gui Campsite for an overnight stay.

- Highlights: Descend back to Raithal — the last day of the trek. Walk the same wooded pathway once more and take an opportunity to appreciate the forests, meadows, and serenity of the area. As you reach Raithal, it will be time to take leave of the quaint mountain village and drive back to Dehradun. As you descend from the mountains, you reflect on the extraordinary moments and memories of the trek. The Dayara Bugyal Trek Itinerary concludes with a scenic drive back, offering breathtaking views of lush valleys and clear rivers. It is advisable to book return tickets after 9 PM, as traffic snarls can make the journey less pleasant. This timing ensures a smoother return, allowing you to reach your destination without much hassle.

Cost Includes
- Transportation: Transport will from Dehradun to Raithal base camp
- Accommodation: Stay from Raithal Base camp is included. Accommodations include a guest house or permanent camp at Sonamarg and camping tents at the campsites, all on a triple-sharing basis.
- Meals: All meals from afternoon snacks at Raithal on the Arrival Day to breakfast and on the Last Day are included. We provide simple, nutritious, and healthy food daily on the trek. *Note: Meal variety is subject to change, depending on the availability.
- Permit: Forest permit charges are included.
- Tent & Sleeping Bag: Quality tents, mattresses, and sleeping bags are provided in the camps, along with a liner.
- First Aid Kits: Carried by our trek leaders and guides. Emergency medical issues are addressed with utmost care.
- Adept Trek Leaders and Team Members: Our local Himalayan team includes professional trek leaders with mountaineering qualifications and familiarity with the local terrain. The team also includes well-trained guides, cooks, and helpers.
Cost Excludes
- Backpack Offloading Charges: An additional charge of Rs-500/- per bag per day for offloading, with a maximum weight limit of 10 kg per backpack.
- *Note: Suitcases/trolleys/duffel bags are not allowed. Offloading during the trek is subject to prior arrangement.
- Stay & Unplanned Transport: Accommodation in Raithal or any unplanned transportation, which is not mentioned in the itinerary.
- Personal Expenses: Any kind of personal expense is not included in the cost.
- Rescue Cost: Expenses for any trekker needing to be sent back or rescued.
