PHULARA RIDGE TREK

It is well-known that Phulara comes from a Sanskrit word “phula”, meaning flower. In ancient times, the ridge was enriched with a plethora of blooming and vibrant flowers, displaying the landscape in different colors. These blooming flowers serve as nature’s gift, that offers immense beauty to the place, and enchants trek enthusiasts.

Itinerary
Begin your trek with a scenic drive from Dehradun, the gateway to the Himalayas, to Sankri, a charming base village for several Uttarakhand treks. Enjoy stunning views of the Garhwal ranges as you wind through pine forests and serene hamlets.
On the first day of your Phulara Ridge trek, you’ll leave Dehradun for Sankri, a charming small village in Uttarakhand with 250 houses nearby.
The village, which is made up of small Dhabas and shops, serves as the starting point for many other treks such as Kedarkantha and others.
You’ll pass through Nainbagh, Naugaon, Purola, Jarmola, Mori Naitwari, and finally Sankri on your way to Sankri. From Dehradun, it takes 9 to 10 hours to get to Sankri.
The trek starts off on an easy climb through dense maple, oak, and pine forests. The best place to camp is near a serene high-altitude lake called Juda Ka Talab.
You will cross the lovely pine forest on your second day of the Phulara Ridge trek as you head towards Juda ka Tal from Sankri base camp.
Snow-capped mountain peaks will be visible after arriving at Juda Ka Tal, and they will be very attractive. It will provide you with a lot of excitement at that time.
Trail continues on through forests and large meadows, with an ascent to Bhoj Gadi, offering excellent views of the surrounding Gangotri ranges.

A short descent leads to the bridge, followed by a sharp ascent through a portion of landslide terrain. This segment is only 100 meters long. A good stream flows underneath the bridge, and you can fill your water bottle there.
The valley is divided by a bridge and a creek. Continue ascending for another 15 minutes to meet ‘Karsu Thatch,’ a larger clearing. Yellow flowers abound in the grass. The Kedarkantha peak can be seen to the right as you reach this wide clearing. From this vantage point, you can see the decline in the tree line. Take the slow, steady climb and stay to the left. For the next 30 minutes, the climb is incremental. The trail is now packed with rohdo trees and some Bhoj trees. After the monsoon, the flowers bloom. You join the lush green meadows as the clearings begin to open up.
You will now enjoy walking on the green cover, which is a treat for your eyes and legs.
This is the main day of the trek. It follows the beautiful Phulara Ridge with spectacular views of the snow-capped mountains and valleys. Descend through the meadow into the vast Pushtara grassland, ideal for camping under star-studded skies.
From the campsite, you can see the top of the mountain. There is a pleasant climb to begin the day. The climb to the top of the ridge takes about 45 minutes. On this trail, you’ll see a lot of Himalayan Monals.
The view from the top of the ridge is breathtaking. A view of the snow-capped mountains from a reach of 250 degrees. You can see the ridge ahead of you, with gentle ascents leading to the end of this lovely trail. You can feel the snow-capped mountains shifting alongside you as you trek. After another hour of hiking, you’ll reach the trail’s end, where it takes a right turn. A few stones placed along the pathway give the impression that you are entering a grand entrance to see the magnificent view. Hanuman Top, Sarutal Top, DKD, Bandarpoonch, Kalanag, Swargarohini, Hata Peak(HKD), Ranglana, Devkyara valley, Lekha Top, Vijay Top, Kedarkantha are the peaks from right to left.
From this stage, take the first right onto the trail. At the tip, a Vodafone signal can be picked up on occasion. There are numerous descents and ascents to be made. The Sarutal base is where you must cross.
Descend through vibrant forests and quaint trails through Taluka village and back to Sankri.
The path will descend all the way to Taluka village. The descent through the meadows takes the first 30 minutes. Here are a few broken Gujjar huts. To the right, you can see the trail coming from the Taloti valley.
Enter this trail after descending. Continue descending and turning right. The tree line begins to rise. The floor is carpeted with lovely yellow flowers. Only lying down makes it sound like you’re in a bed.
After another 30 minutes of descent, you reach the trees. At first, there are broad, good trails that lead into the forest. The forest is big, and it’s easy to get lost if you stray from the path. The trees are initially spaced with plenty of light coming through the cover.
Later, you will be surrounded by large pine trees. You appear to be a tiny person trekking through a vast forest. You must pass through several trees that have fallen to the ground. When jumping from one tree to the next, a group of curious langurs observes your trekking technique.
The Phulara Ridge Trek Itinerary concludes with a scenic drive back to Dehradun, allowing you to reflect on the unforgettable memories of the trek. After an early breakfast, you’ll depart for Dehradun to ensure timely arrival, with an optional lunch stop along the way.

- Transportation: Pickup from Dehradun railway station to Sankri and return via Bolero/Tempo/Sumo.
- Accommodation: Comfortable accommodation is included. It includes camping tents at campsites or a guest house, and all on a double sharing basis.
- Meals: All meals on arrival day at Sankri to breakfast at Sankri on trek’s last day are included. We ensure the health of trekkers, and provide nutritious and simple food throughout the trek. *Note- Meal variety might change as per the availability.
- Permit: Inclusion of forest permit charges.
